[ARCHIVED] Crime & Safety Alert

Earlier this morning, one of our officers was made aware of an inappropriate touching incident that occurred at approximately 6:45am on 2/7/20 on the Oak Leaf Trail, specifically as the trail crosses over W. Marne Ave & N. Port Washington Rd in the City of Glendale.

The female victim who was walking on the trail, reported that a male suspect who was also walking on the trail, approached her from behind and touched her inappropriately.

The suspect is described as a white male, 20-25 years of age, 6’0, medium build, possible mustache, wearing a red & grey winter hat, grey puffy winter jacket and possibly blue jeans. If you have any information that may assist our department during this investigation, please contact our department, 414-228-1753, Case #20-001560. In the meantime, our officers will be increasing patrol in the area and feel it is important to advise the public of this incident.

The Glendale Police Department would like to remind you several simple personal safety rules;

*Always be aware of your surroundings and the people around you, no matter if it is day or night.

*Use well-lit areas and well-traveled routes.

*Carry a cellular phone with you. Consider downloading an app to track your route.  Always know your location.

*Trust your instincts.  If it does not seem ‘right’, it is likely not ‘right’.

*Walk in pairs rather than alone. If a partner is not available, let someone know that you are planning to walk and the route you intend to travel.

*Change your walking route to avoid someone knowing your routine.

*Call 911 in an emergency.
