Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District Resilience Survey

Over the past year, the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) has been working with municipalities, businesses, non-profit organizations and other partners (including Veolia, the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, and the Nature Conservancy) to develop the first Resilience Plan for the Milwaukee area. Resilience plans identify risks and strategies that impact social, environmental, and economic prosperity in urban areas.  Over 100 resilience plans have been developed around the world.  We anticipate completing the Resilience Plan for the Milwaukee area by the end of the year.

Please take a moment to complete the anonymous survey below using the survey link.  The survey takes about five minutes.   Your feedback is important on how best to collectively move forward and implement the Resilience Plan. Any and all ideas, suggestions, and feedback are welcome!  The survey will close at the end of the day Friday, September 7th.

Cardboard

City of Glendale residents may dispose of cardboard by placing it in the compactor dumpster just inside the south gate of the Public Works (PW) yard located on 5930 N. Glen Park Rd.  Flatten the cardboard before placing it in the dumpster.

The gates to the PW yard are open from 7 AM - 3 PM. Monday-Friday. For curbside pick up of cardboard, all cardboard must be cut to fit inside the recycling car.

Health Dept

National Suicide Prevention Week is September
9-15. This week-long campaign focuses on informing and engaging health professionals and the general public about suicide prevention. Suicide, which is the tenth leading cause of death in the US, doesn’t have one single cause. It most often occurs when stressors exceed current coping abilities of someone suffering from a mental health condition. Conditions like depression, anxiety and substance problems, especially when undiagnosed or untreated, increase the risk of suicide.

If you are concerned and don’t know what to do, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
